Who is this course for?
Our Access advanced training course is suitable for those with an intermediary working knowledge of Access document and want to progress to the advanced features and functions of Access Database.

Prerequisites: An intermediary working knowledge of Access is required. We are not responsible if you are unable to follow or benefit from the training if you do not have sufficient command of Word.

Helpful Tips
To benefit from our Access advanced training course, learners must have good working knowledge in these intermediary areas;

  • Understand Database Design, and what types of information are stored, use of data entry form, routine queries, how data is structured in a single table non-relational database, the use of indexes and key field to organise data.
  • Understand Data Integrity, Unique not null primary key, field characteristics, data validation, consistency, completeness, accuracy, and the effect of malicious or accidental alteration.
  • Able to modify database table, add or amend or delete field and field characteristics. Able to understand Field characteristics i.e. Data type, field name, field size, format, validation, and primary key.
  • Able to understand the Problems with database tables, i.e. redundant data, duplication, table structure, field characteristics and validation and sources of help.
  • Able to enter, edit and organise data i.e. select and update fields, create new records, locate and amend records, using wildcards, search operators, error checking, and data validation.
  • Understand and able to format data entry forms, i.e. field characteristics and layout, tables, colour, and lookups.
  • Able to check data entry, i.e. Spell check, format, accuracy, consistency, completeness, validity, and security.
  • Understand Data entry errors, i.e. Due to field size, data type, validation checks, using help, deal with data that does not fit parameters, alerts, reminders, and problems with forms
  • Able to perform Database queries, i.e. Alphanumeric sort, filter, single criteria, multiple criteria; save queries and output
  • Able to create Database reports, i.e. Using menus, wizards or shortcuts; selected fields; selected records
  • Competent in Formatting database reports, i.e. Data fields, page and section layout, add text or images, and adjust page setup for printing
  • Able to Check reports, i.e. Completeness, accuracy, security, sorting, formatting, layout
