Course Description:
The course is designed for those learners who want to gain up-to-date nationally recognised accredited qualification and improve their information and communication technology (ICT) skill set and the course units includes,
- Using devices and handling information
- Creating and editing
- Communicating
- Transacting
- Being safe and responsible online.
Qualification Objectives:
The aim of these nationally recognised IT user qualifications is to:
- improve learners’ knowledge and understanding of IT
- develop skills to work effectively and efficiently using IT
- provide proof of IT competence
- allow progression to employment or further study.
Who is the training for?
This training is suitable for learners with no or low digital skills who will benefit enormously from the support and development of their key digital skills such as using devices, creating, and editing digital media, using technology to communicate, buying and transacting online, and how to stay safe and secure when using technology.
BCS Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for these qualifications. It is expected that an initial assessment has taken place with the Approved Centre to ensure that the learner is capable of reaching the required standards.

When you book your BCS accredited course you will be provided with the resources you will need, which includes;
- Obtaining or creating your unique learner number (ULN) - Learner Records Service (LRS)
- BCS registration to obtain your BCS identification number

Technical assistance and support via email or scheduled phone call or video conferencing.
We recommend that you commit 1 to 2 hours per day studying for your course.
Invigilated Live Test
A learner needs to book his/her invigilated live test, 3 to 5 working days in advance or 10 working days in advance if reasonable adjustments are required prior to taking the live test, we will then setup your live test and assign a BCS registered invigilator to invigilate the live test. We will provide you with your live test booking form when you enrol on the course, together with other additional forms you will need.
*Working days - Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 6:00pm.
You will have 52 weeks to complete your course from your registration start date, we will remind you one month in advance by email of your completion end date, if you need any additional course extension to complete your course, you will need to make a request in writing or emailing us at the following email address, admin@customisedcurriculum.com or writing to us at Customised Curriculum Limited, 79 College Road, Harrow, HA1 1BD.
Enrol now on the BCS, The Chartered Institute For IT Online Learning accredited course and study for the course at you own pace, you will be guided and supervised by a BCS registered, qualified and experienced ICT Trainer, assistance and support will be provided primarily by emails with some telephone or video conferencing, we will discuss your availability and commitment with you prior to your enrolment.
We'll monitor your progress via a system report to identify if you are struggling with a particular module allowing us to provide additional learning support.
Special education needs (SEN)
Learner needs to inform us of any special education needs or disabilities to ensure we can provide reasonable adjustments or special considerations where relevant so that there are no unnecessary barriers for the learner.
BCS Entry Requirements

It is recommended that learners complete an IT User Qualification at either Level 1 or 2 prior to sitting the ICDL Advanced or Level 3 ICDL Award qualifications. However, this is not a mandatory requirement.

14.2 Registrations
A Learner must be registered for the qualification they wish to take before any assessment can commence. At first registration with BCS a Learner will be given a BCS identification number, which is a unique number for all BCS qualifications a Learner takes. A Learner can be registered for multiple BCS qualifications, using the same BCS identification number.
14.2.1 What information is needed to register Learners?
Before a Learner is registered, Centre staff must ensure:
- The Learner is registered before the date of their first live test or assessment
- The Learner’s identification document(s) is checked and recorded, see section 14.2.2 Learner identification
- The Learner’s official name as shown on their identification is used to register them
- The centre address details are used if registering a learner under the age of 18.
The following information is requested when registering Learners:
- ULN (Unique Learner Number from Personal Learner Record)
- Learner Title
- Learner Forename*
- Learner Surname*
- Date of Birth*
- Gender*
- House Number or Name*
- Postcode*
- Telephone Number*
- Email*
- Ethnicity*

14.2.2 Learner identification
All Learners, except school children, known staff or residents of HMP, must provide identification prior to registration for any BCS qualification. Learners are required to provide either one item from List 1, or two items from List 2.
Identification seen for each Learner must be recorded on the central recording system, as this information is required for compliance and audit purposes.
List 1: One item required
- Passport
- Biometric identity card
- Full driver’s licence with photograph or,
List 2: Two current items required
- Standard acknowledgement letter (held by people seeking asylum)
- Rent book or tenancy agreement
- Bank card: credit, charge, cheque guarantee, debit (in date)
- Bank or building society book
- Cheque book
- Letter showing home address
- Full driver’s licence without photograph
- Benefit letter or agreement
- Services identity card
- Utility bill
- Original birth certificate
- Marriage certificate
- Travel pass with photograph
- Any other form of identification
We will not be able to enrol you on any BCS accredited qualifications if you are unable to provide the item(s) requested from List 1 or List 2.
Once you have met the BCS registration requirements, you can book you course from the Overview Tab above. We will send you a BCS Registration Form, by email which you will need to complete and send it back to us with your identification document(s) requested in List 1 or List 2, we will then process your enrolment immediately and you can start learning.
